ELIGIBLE TRAINING PROVIDERS

Another important facet of the Workforce System is the contribution of individuals, organizations and entities that offer pre-employment, basic skills and occupational skills training to the general public and also offer such training to eligible individuals within the Workforce System by applying for standing on the Eligible Training Provider list.

In order for an individual, organization or entity to be eligible to receive the funds [under the Workforce Investment Act of 1998], the provider shall be

• a postsecondary educational institution that - -
  - is eligible to receive Federal funds under title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and:
  - provides a program that leads to an associate degree, baccalaureate degree, or certificate;
• an entity that carries out programs under the Act of August 16, 1937 (commonly known as the “National Apprenticeship Act”) or
• another public or private provider of a program of training services.

Further, the provider must offer training that falls within the list of ‘demand occupations’ authorized by the Workforce Investment Board.
